Where Image Meets Health
In the Salon/Spa environment conversations are generally about appearances, colours, cosmetics and creams that work, spa treatments and the related services; however, we also find ourselves discussing, fitness, diets, and more and more often, health. I guess this is not be too surprising, since we are bombarded with many health issues daily, in the media, the grocery store, in the workplace and so on, it’s just on our lips.
Here, I’d like to discuss the diet part of this equation, which from my perspective, is a concern to many of us. Most of us have been on one diet or another and most of us have been disappointed with the results. In fact, statistics tell us that most diets don’t work. Yes, you’ll lose weight during the diet program, but usually the weight returns (the ‘yo yo’ effect) and sometimes people gain back even more. This up and down weight issue is certainly not good for our health. Notwithstanding, we want to look better, fit into those favourite outfits and overall feel good about our image.

In short, losing weight is the key element in reversing adverse health conditions and sustaining the healthy weight is the best possible measure in disease prevention.
